Search Engine Optimization

SEARCH ENGINE OPTIMIZATION

Get found on Google by the people already searching for you.

If your business isn’t on the first page of Google, your competitors are getting the customers who should be yours. I build SEO that doesn’t just move rankings — it brings in real people actively searching for exactly what you offer.
OUR PROCESS

What SEO actually is

SEO (Search Engine Optimization) simply means getting your website to show up on Google when someone types in what you sell — without paying for ads every time they click.

Here’s the example. Say you run a physiotherapy clinic in Nanaimo. Right now, when someone in pain types “physiotherapy Nanaimo” into Google, one clinic shows up at the top — and it isn’t you. That clinic gets the call. You don’t. SEO is the work that moves you into that top spot, so the next person who searches finds you first and books with you instead. Same idea whether the search is “emergency roof repair,” “used travel trailers near me,” or “counsellor accepting new clients” — SEO puts you in front of the person at the exact moment they’re looking to buy.

That’s what makes SEO different from ads: an ad disappears the second you stop paying. A page that ranks keeps bringing in customers month after month, even while you sleep. It’s the difference between renting attention and owning it.

01
Free, ongoing traffic

Once you rank, the customers keep coming without paying per click.

02
ready-to-buy people

You show up exactly when someone is searching for what you sell.

03
Builds a lasting asset

Unlike ads, SEO — it keeps working long after the work is done.

04
Builds trust

People trust the businesses Google ranks first.

Why SEO looks different for every business

There’s no single SEO playbook, because no two businesses get found the same way. A local chiropractor lives or dies by showing up in the Google map for their town. An online store needs its product pages to rank across the whole country. A roofer needs to appear the moment someone searches after a storm. A B2B company is chasing a handful of high-value searches, not thousands of small ones. Before I touch anything, I work out which kind of business you are — because that decides the entire strategy. That’s also why a copied-and-pasted “SEO checklist” from a blog rarely works: it wasn’t built for your business, your competitors, or your market.

MY PROCESS

I don’t guess. I measure, plan, execute, and keep adjusting.

SEO isn’t magic and it isn’t a one-time job. It’s consistency — doing the things your website actually needs, measuring what happens, and doubling down on what works.

Measure where you stand First I look at your own site: what you already rank for, what’s holding you back technically, and where you sit in Google today. You can’t improve what you haven’t measured, so this is always step one.

Study the search results & competitors Then I look at the search results page itself — who’s ranking above you, what they’re doing to earn it, and where the gaps are. Your competitors’ pages tell me what Google currently rewards for keywords.

Build a plan from the research I turn all of that — your site, the keywords people actually search, the competitors winning, and your market — into a clear, prioritised plan. Not a generic checklist; the specific things that will move your business.

Execute, then monitor and adjust I do the work, then watch the numbers. If a strategy is working, we keep going and build on it. If it isn’t, we change course. SEO rewards consistency and honest measurement — so I keep measuring and keep refining, month after month.

IT’S NOT ONE THING

SEO isn't one task — it's a system. Here's what actually goes into it.

People think of “SEO” as one thing you buy. It’s really a set of moving parts working together — and the truth is most of them matter for almost everyone. You don’t get to skip the foundations and still rank in AI answers; showing up anywhere in modern search depends on the same underlying work. What changes from business to business isn’t whether you need these parts — it’s how much weight each one gets.

The one real fork in the road is this:

Do your customers come from a local area? → You need Local SEO.

If you’re a chiropractor, physiotherapist, dentist, counsellor, cleaning company, roofer, contractor, powersports or RV dealer, auto shop, or local retailer, your customers are searching “near me” and “in [your town].” Local SEO is what gets you into the Google Map pack and those local results — optimising your Google Business Profile, reviews, listings, and location keywords so the people closest to you find you first. If you’re purely a local business, this is where the biggest, fastest wins are. If you sell nationally or online, you can skip it. That’s the one genuine either/or.

Content & on-page SEO

The core of all of it. I optimise your pages (titles, headings, structure, internal links) and create content that answers your customers' real questions. Nothing else ranks without this — not Google, not AI. It's the foundation the rest sits on.

Technical SEO

If Google can't crawl and read your site, none of the work matters. Site speed, mobile, broken links, indexing, schema. This isn't optional for anyone; it's the plumbing.

Link building & authority

Google (and AI tools) trust businesses that other trusted sites vouch for. Earning real, relevant backlinks raises your authority so you can outrank competitors. This feeds every kind of visibility, including AI answers — a brand that's cited around the web is a brand AI recommends.

GEO & AEO

Being found in AI answers is the newer layer — but you don't reach it by skipping the fundamentals, you reach it because of them. When people ask ChatGPT, AI Overviews, or Perplexity for "the best [what you do]," the businesses that surface are the ones with strong content, technical health, and real authority.

So which parts do you need?

Almost all of them — the difference is emphasis. A local clinic leans hard on Local SEO plus reviews and content. An online store leans on technical, product-page content, and links. A business chasing AI visibility still needs the content, technical, and authority work underneath it. That’s exactly why I don’t hand out a generic checklist — I look at your business first, then decide how much of each part you actually need.

COMMON QUESTIONS

Frequently Asked Questions

How long does SEO take to work?
SEO isn’t an overnight fix. Most businesses see noticeable improvement in 3–6 months, with stronger results building over 6–12. It depends on how competitive your industry is, how established your site is, and how aggressively we work. The sooner you start, the sooner it pays off.
It depends on your website, your competition, and the work needed — so I build tailored plans rather than one-size-fits-all pricing. The honest way to get a real number is a free consultation, where I assess your situation and give you a clear quote.
You can handle the basics with enough time and learning. But most owners don’t have 10–20 hours a week for it. Working with someone experienced gets results faster, avoids costly mistakes, and frees you to run your business.
Local SEO gets you found by people searching in your city or region — “dentist in Nanaimo,” “roofer near me.” If you serve customers in a specific area, it’s essential, and it often delivers the fastest return of any SEO.
Usually one of three things: they have more trusted backlinks, better-optimised content, or a stronger technical foundation. A free audit will show you exactly where the gap is and what it takes to close it.
Does blogging actually help SEO?
Yes. Publishing helpful, relevant content gives Google more pages to rank, helps you show up for more searches, and builds trust over time. It’s one of the most reliable ways to grow organic traffic — as long as it’s genuinely useful, not filler.
Ads put you at the top instantly, but you vanish the moment you stop paying. SEO builds ranking that keeps delivering without ongoing ad spend. Most smart businesses use both — ads for quick wins, SEO for long-term growth.
Yes — it’s just expanding. Traditional SEO is still critical, and now GEO and AEO make sure you also show up in AI answers like ChatGPT and Google’s AI Overviews. Getting found is still the goal; there are simply more places to get found now.
No lock-in tricks. SEO does need consistency to work, so I’ll always be honest about the timeline — but you’ll see what I’m doing and why, every month, and you stay because it’s working, not because a contract traps you.
Very little. Access to your website and Google accounts, and a short conversation about your business and goals. I handle the rest and stay out of your way so you can keep running things.
